It Was an Accident!

I had a lot of fun during our long weekend. There was plenty of sunshine, laughter, a lot of orange fabric in the mix and some wine too. But then something bad happened.

I sew some Friend's Favourite blocks in orange.
Plaid orange, orange-red, spider orange, coral, tangerine, peach and floral pumpkin. It was fun playing with these.

Every little bit of fabric big enough to produce a 1.5 X 2.5 inches rectangle is thrown into the BFF (box of Friend's Favourite). It was a royal mess, to say the least. So I straighten up the little pieces and realized that there are a LOT of those.
The worst part is that I haven't been through all the colours yet.

I asked myself "What am I going to do with the leftovers from this project? What can I possibly do with these small rectangles?" That's when something terrible happened.

My brain answered.

And it said:

 "They can do this!"

I love this quilt by Ellen at Little Jewel and I have a kit all done for it. Okay, maybe there are 3 or 4 quilts in there but when a piece is 2.5 X 4.5 it goes in this box. And I've been doing this since 2014. Ouch!

But do I really need another quilt on my to-do list? Really? You think I said no?

Nope! And the next thing I know was ...

Four little Potato Chips blocks were made. But I didn't mean to start anything new. I'm telling you it was an accident!

Okay, it wasn't that terrible after all. Look how cute they are!

Oh, this is gonna be SOOOOOOOO much fun! I'll try to keep it for the retreat in October.

Hope you're having fun too.

A Long Orange Weekend

In honour of Queen Victoria, we celebrate it with a long weekend. Make mine orange, please, and carrot, and rust, and marigold, and saffron, and pumpkin, and peach, and melon, and yeah, all of them. :^D

In our defence, it's a complicated colour.

I found some time to cut and sew this week. I did ...

... six Irish Star blocks. That was fun. The beautiful fabric in the last star is what's left of this lovely leafy burnt orange.

When your friends give you scraps, you can't fall too hard for them because there's just a little to cherish. And this one is all gone. Two or three squares of 2" are in the basket for the 25-Patch blocks.

What else did I do?

I found this silhouette print in red-orange-yellow and green. I thought it would look good with the red stars. It now resides in a little box with the other 2.5 inches block.

They still have to learn my language so I have no idea what it wants and where it's going, but it's fun to follow the trail. After putting all these blocks away, the design wall was bare so I put up more blocks that were done this week.
Some 9-Patch blocks, one 25-Patch block, and three Friend's Favourite. Oh, those are fun. I did them for Mother's Day.

Some happy flowers and a quilt show with a "Quilts for sale" ad!
The one on top has an angel with a birdcage...
... with the words "Love is kind" written above it. Some orange ones will be assembled this weekend.

Little 9-Patch (1.5"pieces) as leader-enders. I believe there is just one more 9-Patch cut up from the Christmas-y fabric found in a little bag. I had fun with these.

And the 25-Patch block. I used one of the burnt-orange leafy print squares already. I can't help myself.

Care to see a picture of a big black cat?

I had to cut his "mane" somewhat as it was so long that he couldn't reach past it to clean himself. As this picture proves, I am no groomer, lol. Since he can clean himself better now and has fewer tangles in his fur, I think the end result justifies the awful "hair-do". (Regardless, I still love you, baby Raven. 😻) Hard to believe this is the same cat that graces my header picture.

Take care, everyone.

Did You Say Orange?

I got some of that!😊

I jumped into the orange basket and came out with this!

Scrap Jar Star multicoloured centre...

... and a 25-Patch block.

That's all I had time to sew because my sewing place looks like this:

You see, we had our Artisanat reunion on Tuesday, and a few bags followed me home so I spent a lot of time sorting and cutting, and I'm running out of space.

Three gifted bags, full of fabrics. The white kitchen bags had a lot of flannel mixed in.  Now I have an itch to sew some flannel blankets. First, I have to finish all this cutting and sorting. Sigh! It's a good problem to have, they say, and I am grateful for it. Thank you, my generous friends.

More next week... hopefully!

Enjoy!
