I'm in a hurry to get things done ...

That's what I did yesterday and this morning. Now a whole bunch of things are done (cleaning, laundry, baking, sewing) only the chicken to be put in the oven for diner and I can (finally) sit, take a deep breath and enjoy life once again. Siiiiggghhhh!!


I did finish the month of May. Yay!  These blocks finish at 6 inches.

May 27th was Roman Cross - 33 pieces (pictures acting up again!)

Garden Maze - 41 pieces (another contender for RSC2017)

Eight Hands - 37 pieces

New Hour Glass - 44 pieces (had some issues with this one. I put some blue grapes in the middle and the brown grapes on the outside.) Needs a trim.

And May 31st : Rolling Pinwheel - 36 pieces for a total of 191.

The total for the first five months of the year is -   3 542

Pheew! That's a lot of scraps! 

Now this being said, I want to slow the pace right down to a crawl... it is windy today and I love windy days, so out the door I am going. Of course, I'll bring something to keep my hands busy. 

I have a few butterflies prepped, waiting for the final touches. I also would like to put a few stitches in Shakespeare that has been so neglected.

and at Cynthia's place (Quilting is more fun than Housework) for Oh Scraps!

My "One Monthly Goal" is ...

I really had to think about this because so many projects could use the extra attention.


Westering Woman is once a month and I am up to par with that one. Yay!!

Rainbow Scrap Challenge is about using up your scrap in the colour of the month. Since I have only one  block to do per colour, I am good on that project too. Yay!!



Last year RSC quilt is still waiting to be quilted. No "Yay".

My Jubilee quilt,  (hexagon quilt) "Quilt of the Century" as I like to call it, is languishing on top of the frame. No "Yay".
The Ohio Star quilt in the frame is also languishing for some attention since ... ummm ... last year? No "Yay".

The 365 Challenge is still two month behind the schedule as set up by Kathy. No "Yay".
My usual summer project, Rose Dream, hasn't been touched since ... well, last summer. No "Yay".

Then, there's the tulips table runner for my M&FIL
Oh, oh! and there's also a new project, the log cabin, a quilt along with Julie. Only half of a block done so far. Not much of a "Yay" there either.

And then, I have unearthed Jacob's Ladder which is now calling for a border. That quilt was started in 2013. No "Yay".

So which one to pick? Which one is more interesting?



Last Sunday, to join the group  Slow Sunday Stitching with Kathy, I worked with hexagons and I enjoyed it and fell back in love with it. So I would like to attach one more row on that one.

RSC 2015 should be easy to quilt as one of the sewing machine is already set up with the walking foot. So this one is not too demanding, except I can't do it outside. You know it is summer now. Who wants to be stuck in the basement during summer? Not me.

Same goes for Ohio Star and Shakespeare. Sooooo ...

That leaves me with the 365 Challenge and I do want to work on this one. So, now the question is:

How many?

I won't try for the entire month of April since I was unable to accomplish this back in April lol. AND it is summer you know! What if I have to make it past the 15th of the month? Yyyyeesss! I could do that!  So I will do two weeks of blocks in a month? I will still be behind like further than ever!! That's not good. Okay! I'll do it! I'll do the ENTIRE month of April. (Yikes!!)

Slow is Good

I thought I could barge in for a minute to show I am still alive.  ;^)

My computer was playing tricks on me with the graphics. Sometimes it was oversized and other time it was too small. Every morning when I opened it I didn't know what I would get. Then I lost Windows. Completely!  No Windows, no computer. It's that simple.  It really distressed me as I have so much saved on it.  Not just quilting stuff but budgets, recipes, addresses, lists ...  It did a number on my nerves. My world was not a happy one.  ;^(

I kind of kept in touch with what my bloggy friends, thanks to my tablet, but I found it hard to comment. (I really love my keyboard, thank you! :^D )

That too depressed me. 

After two weeks, my tech-y wizz nephew got me Ubuntu. It's a Windows wannabe but not like it. I'm still not comfortable with it, but let's move on with something quilting, shall we?

Because I had no computer, do you think I quilted more? 

Nope! Too upset!! The seams were not straight, the hand quilting was not nice and the Ultimate Sampler 365 Challenge was asking for inset seams! Bawhahahahahahaha! 

Nope! Not gonna do that!!

Instead I did something that didn't need to be neat or demanded attention and neatness.  (You'd think I could download some pictures right? Oh gosh!! ) Untouched pictures because I have nothing on this computer to resize them. Sorry!  

Did some string blocks! Mindless work, I'd say. Cynthia is also doing some string blocks. They are lovely. I use the same method to sew my block except for the corners. I mostly dig in my box of saved triangles for the corners.  

I did some orange one too ... of course. 

Today is a beautiful sunny day. Still on the cool side which is fine by me. So, I'll work on this project. 

Shakespeare in the Park. 

I have decided how to quilt the big blue squares. Now that I have a plan, it might get done lol. So far, I have quilted 1/4 inch from the seams and some simple straight lines for the middle star. 

I am using quilting threads of different blues for this quilt. The threads will be as scrappy as the quilt itself. I had more pictures taken but will save them for another day when I can do something about the size. Thank you for being patient. ;^)

Friday Finish

Finally, I have a finish!!  (And it's even not my One Monthly Goal finish lol!)



Remember Lori had a quilt-along named Country Roads? (Feels like such a long time ago) Well I finally finished mine. Yay!!

Remember how I had to undo the border because of a melt down under the iron? I was able to remove the border without removing the parts that were quilted already. Then I repinned the new border and quilted some more.

Eventually, only a little bit was left. So this morning I decided it was done TODAY!! Finished the quilting, sew the binding on and sew it down by hand. (Believe it or not, I have a little blister on my finger.)

Brought it outside because the lighting is not very good in the house today. It's very overcast. We had a little bit more snow yesterday; it makes a nice background for pictures.

Just because you love to see her, I took another picture. She told me she was not impressed that my hand was empty and she pinched my finger with her beak just to make sure I get the point. I went back inside and came back out with lots of nuts and seeds. She was happy! :^) She trained me so well lol.

Anywho! After, I was able to finish taking picture of my latest "scratched off the list" UFO. :^D  It is off to the laundry room for a good wash.


Now, look who's in the little frame, waiting for me.

It is "Shakespeare in the Park" turn. How will I quilt this one?  Blue on blue and white on white so the quilting doesn't show up too much and let the design shine? Or should I do the opposite and quilt the white part with blue thread? Outlined or something more "fancy"? I know one thing; come Sunday I am

joining Kathy and all her friends for some slow stitching so I better make up my mind soon.

Done with the Blues

It has been a while since my last post. Sorry about that but now I am back so let's get down to business.

What happened to these :

I am so happy with it. It's just so gorgeous to me. I started this one on May 22nd and it is already completed. Don't think I have ever done a big quilt so fast. It's 94 inches square, not quilted. It is the first time I think about a quilt so much. Everywhere I went, I kept thinking "oh, that blue would look good in Shakespeare!" Now, I am finally freeeeeee of all that!! On the other hand, now that I am looking at the pictures, I think I have some unpicking to do. The white stars in the dark blocks, in one of the diagonal line, are in the same position three in a row. The more I look at the picture, the more it is annoying me. Let's try another picture, shall we?

Okay? Yep! gotta change that! Arrrrghhhh!!

Since this is no longer on my Design Wall, what is? I was actually thinking about that last night; what will I do next? I know that I have to finish a few projects because they are taking over my sewing room and I don't like ... sharing my sewing room!!! SOOOOO, on with some finishing but which one? Hmmmm?!!?

I know that I want a break from the blues. I did Stars Blooming for my In-laws, (which took like forever).

I did this little place mat for a friend. 

Then I had to catch up on my Rainbow Scrap Challenge and did two blue challenges in one month: Indigo and Aqua.

So, I am all "blued" out, lol.

While looking at my RSC, I decided to take the blocks out to see what kind of fun they are having and they are having plenty of it. So cheerful after all that blue!

I will be doing more oranges of course since it is the month for orange. YEAH!!

and then, I will finish something. My list of UFOs is long, so I am positive I will find something to keep my hands busy. :^D

Monday Design Wall : nothing!

I have nothing on my wall. It's all on the floor.

It started with this

they got together. I loved so I kept going.

and some multiplied.

Then, again, they got together.

Oh, it is so much fun to see it like that. I've been wanting this quilt for so long, well since the day I saw it in the Quilter's Newsletter magazine of April 2000!

I am still missing a few pieces but they are just plain squares and some triangles that I haven't cut yet. More cutting :^(


I can smell a finish!! Will it be done for next Monday?

Monday Monday

I worked on my Shakespeare in the Park quilt all last week. Lots of blocks were made and lots of blocks still to do.  :^D

8 large dark stars : done

20 small dark stars : done
28 small light stars : nope!! What?? I said nope! Only 15 got made so far.
Number of small light stars missing : 13 (They would make a beautiful quilt all by themselves.)

Two are already sewn together with the border/edge of the quilt attached. (You know I just couldn't wait!)

One of my leader / ender project is a double 9 patch and 6 more blocks got made. Total so far : 28 blocks.

My other leader /ender  project is my RSC2015.  I won't show you my progress on this project because I want to keep some pictures secret in order to have something interesting to show you next Saturday.  BUT I can show one ... because it is too cute.

I so love indigo and white. Wow!
