DWM Just a little bit

I did a lot of work and yet I don't have a lot to show as most of the work I've done is not quilting related. If you don't mind, I will share the little bit I did in the sewing room.

Two more nameless blocks that adorn my design wall.

Cut the fabric for about four more. Hopefully, I'll get the chance to sew them this week.

Hélène and I are better friends now. Hélène has a "knee pedal" and I am slowly learning how to "drive". LOL. In the picture is a new small project. Hopefully, I'll be able to show this one next Monday too.

A complete stranger but wonder person, sent me, via email, the manual for this particular Singer. She also sent me websites' addresses so I can learn everything there is to know about ALL my Singer machines. YEAH!!  She doesn't have a blog but I am so happy she read mine and took pity on me. :) Thank you so much Sandy.

I redid ten more 9 Patch and sew them into Double 9 Patch.

AND ... Ellen from Little Jewel Quilts had a very generous giveaway about a month ago and I won this beautiful batik bundle. Isn't it GOOOORRRRGEOUS? !! ♫♪Happy dance♪♪♫. I don't know where I will use it ... it intimidates me. I am happy to just fondle it for now. :) Thank you again Ellen. ♥♥♥

That's it. Like I said, not much to show, just a little bit. I am joining Judy from Patchwork Times for Design Wall Monday.

Hope all is well in your corner of the world and that you are sewing more often than I.

Enjoy!  ;^)

P.S. I noticed that a lot of blogs have a "I'm not a robot" check. You don't have to play along to most of them. Write a comment and click publish. Completely ignore the robot thing. Works 99% of the time. Just thought I should share. So have a great day and post comments :)

DWM What am I up to ?

This is the first time, in 2015, that I post about my Design Wall.
Not a big change since 2014.

This is then
This is now!!
Yes, just one more block made :(  I need to get some green into this picture.

The little doll quilt Cascadia has been removed because it is completed. Not done, not quilted just completed as in flimsy state. It has been replaced by these

9 Patch Galore! I realized that the 1/4 inch inseam was not quite 1/4 everywhere. :((((   So I have to "redo" some all. I have 247  9-Patch done.  Those that are rebuilt are sewn up into Double 9 Patch blocks. Yes, only 15 made so far. That is the slowest progress I've ever seen but it is getting done.

I can find all kind of excuses for my slow progress or I can say the truth:  I was just not into this during the Holidays! I am getting acquainted with Hélène (the French version with all the accents). She lives here since May 2014 but needed some repairs.

I got her back in the middle of December and sat with her a few times. We didn't speak the same French at first but I am learning. She loves to go fast!Boy can she go fast!  I believe I have found where Ferrari got the inspiration for his motors lol. She eats up the fabric like there is no tomorrow. One thing I still don't know about her is how to wind a bobbin. I take the Singer's bobbin to my Janome to wind it. Funny girl I am. :)

She is a Singer Fashion Mate model 237 from the 50's. I got her at a moving /estate sale and named her Hélène after her previous owner who happens to be (what a small world) the other grandmother to my husband's nephew. (Am I making sense?) Anyway, Hélène got the job to rebuilt the crooked 9 Patch.

So this is what the Design Wall looks like at my place. If you want, follow this link to Patchwork Times and you'll see more places with beautiful projects pinned to their Design Wall.  Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time   ...   ;^)

The twins called a friend over!

At the beginning of April, I got myself involved with twins that followed me home! (Hehehe!)

This is Céleste ...

Just divine with her little carrying case !

And this is Fleur ...

so named for the beautiful flowers pattern she has all over her.  She does need some TLC and I wish I knew where to start.

Anyway, guess what these two did!  On Saturday, (yesterday), they called a friend over to play!!

When I found the twins, I was so thrilled I told everyone about my find.  (Probably to the point of annoying some people!) But I was so ♪♫ HAPPY ♫!     Anyway!  That's when someone said she had to take care of her MIL's estate sale and there was a sewing machine for sale.  NOT ONCE has she mentioned it was an antique sewing machine.  Instead, she called it an OLDER machine.  So when I got to the house and saw HER .... I was drooling!!!

She is a beautiful thing!  Although I did have to clean her up a little bit before she could come in, I think she is just adorable!

So now, I am blaming the twins for this new friend.  If it hadn't been for them, the new one would have been lost to us.

She has been loved a long time ago ...   Of course she needs a name ... fit for a queen!  I have always loved the name Victoria but with a last name like mine, even if I had had a daughter, I wouldn't have named my child Victoria!  So, this little queen will be call Victoria.  It is also befitting because, in Canada, we celebrate "Victoria Day" on Monday!

The name plate still has it's original gold colour. She was made in 1923 so she is oldest of the trio.

And the bobbins and belt were in the drawers

....   oh! oh! I don't have a manual!! Help! I don't know how to wind these bobbins!  :~{

- But this is it, girls!  No more friends over, you hear!!!

Until next time ... SM ;^) LE ... to opportunities!

New BFF indeed

... and BFF in need!!!

I am so thrilled!  I am tickled pink!! I am in love ♥... with a new BFF♥.  Sadly, she is a BFF in need.
I was lucky enough to catch an add for an estate sale.  Needless to say, I was there early this morning.  It sure took me a while to find the house but, once there, I was not disappointed.  It was so full of stuff and beautiful stuff I might add. It was a good thing they weren't set up for debit cards otherwise I would had been in a pretty ugly situation. LOL. Anyway, in the jungle of stuff in the basement, I spotted this little box.

Of course, I made a bee line and had to open it right away. I had goose bump! and  oh yes,

it is as beautiful as I expected it to be.  It does need a good clean-up and some new parts too but regardless, I'm in love. ♥♥♥  Unfortunately, I can't try it now because the wires are in a dangerous state.

On this picture, you can see the glue from the tape the previous owner had on the bed to sew a straight 1/4 inch.  I have some Internet searching to do for parts and instruction manual for cares. I don't know much about such machines but I know I love them.  My adoptive mother had a beautiful blue Singer machine from the 50's, if I remember correctly.  It worked like a charm.  But when she passed away, in the 90's, the will she wrote was material for fighting between the siblings and I didn't have a saying in it.  So I don't know where the machine went.  So sad!  Anyway, now I have my very own ... well ... actually ...  I have two!

YES ! Two BFF for a sweet little price.  This is my second BFF.  She has her own table/cabinet and she too is in need of serious TLC and some parts.  I can't play with this one either... for now anyway.

It is older than the first one.  It's missing the bobbin cover plate.  I think I might switch them around.  I think BFF1 is in better shape than BFF2.  Maybe  BFF2 will become the spare parts of BFF1  or maybe they are not compatible !!? There is, after all, 12 years between these two.  Believe it or not, there was yet another one at the sale but I left it there. :-(  It was in even worst shape.   Then when I paid for it all, the lady told me there was a threadle machine that they sold yesterday!  Why do people think it is nice to let others know they have miss out on a deal ?!  I seriously don't get it!  I just shook my head and smiled at my two new friends.

Now, sitting at home, I look at them and I am beside myself.  What got over me?  My house is for sale, and I am buying more furniture to move !!?  I am buying restoration projects when, chances are I will move into a house that needs some painting if not restoration too. What's wrong with me??  I seriously didn't think this through.

Whatever!! I just LOVE my twins ♥♥♥.

Until next time ...  SM :^) LE .... and meet someone new ♪♪ ♫ !
