I mostly worked on kits for the baby quilts the ladies at my group are sewing.
The yellow roses fabric was cut in long stripes when gifted to me a while back. I added a bunch of green fabric to the bag and told the girl to surprise me with a top. I so love what she did.
I'll publish a separate post with just the baby quilts once they are quilted and done. 😉
I did a lot of hand-quilting on Ohio Star Shadow.
And I can now call it a finish! It only took 29 years. All it needs is a label and I can't decide what I want. You'd think I had the time to think about that during those 29 years, lol.
In October, I went to our usual quilting retreat with my girls. So much fun!! So much food!
Mini 4-Patch in blue got all the blocks made and assembled.
Then, it got more blocks with a darker blue and a border.
The border is so wavy that it looks like a ruffle, lol. I'll have fun quilting this one but I'll manage. It's my monster after all!
The container of triangles was overflowing so I brought it along to do something about that. Some blocks were assembled.
These two were in separate plastic bags so they were easy to put together. The HSTs finish at 1 inch. So many more triangles were sewn into HSTs and squared up but didn't make it into a block yet. I was just having fun sewing HSTs with no quilt, pattern, or layout in mind. And, I got the container into some kind of order with the bigger triangles at the bottom, etc.
I did walk too, a lot, because it was so beautiful but mostly because it's what I needed.
The last time I was in Blogland, I was overworked with Real Estate Season, Canada Post were on strike which added to my work load, there were renovation going on to add 16
Controlling ourselves is harder than it looks; I can't resist chocolate, coffee and fabric. Others things, I make myself believe that I can control them until everything is out of control. For now, I'm taking care of me and my son. I eat a better diet and soak up the sun most days and that's enough.

Got one in pink to assemble.
workstations that added to my work load and I had a major baby quilt project to work on. The cherry on top was that Saturday morning, August 30th, the phone call telling me my dear friend lost her battle against cancer. I had to step back.
I am better now but not taking any sh*t from anyone, not even from myself. I've slow down the rhythm of the drums I walk to and it suits me just fine.

Congratulations on your fabulous Shadow Star finish, Chantal!! Glad you enjoyed your recent retreat and are staying busy with your various quilt projects.
Ah Chantal, que je suis contente de te lire à nouveau ! Ton Ohio Star Shadow est magnifique, quelle beauté ! Bravo pour tous ces projets en cours, que ce soit du quilting ou de prendre soin de toi. Je t'embrasse.
Wow! Love the Ohio Star Shadow layout. The perfect quilt to demonstrate how secondary patterns become visible when you understand value. Personally, spending time sewing is one of my favorite self care activities. That along with the vices we share: chocolate and coffee.
Ohio Star Shadow is beautiful! It is worth the 29 years ;o)
Your Ohio Star Shadow quilt is beautiful. I'm happy for you that you finished it.
So great to see a post from you, Chantal! I always love to see what you've been sewing on. That Ohio Star quilt is just awesome - congratulations on your finish! You're doing amazing things with the leftover triangles, too. Keep taking care of yourself and getting out for those walks. Hugs!
So happy to see that you're back to blogging a bit, and I love your Ohio Star quilt, so worth the 29 year wait to finish it. Hope you continue to take care of yourself and enjoy what brings you joy. Coffee and dark chocolate are a couple of life's little pleasures, and walks in the country are soothing for the soul. And quilting!
Ohio Star is gorgeous - a great finnish and none the worse for the wait! Nice work from your retreat - I guess just what you needed. So glad that you are making progress and are looking after yourself. xx
Glad to see you back. Finding the things we can control isn't easy. Your Ohio Star quilt is absolutely stunning. And what fun you're having with those triangles.
Welcome back. I'm glad your blog break helped you put things into a better perspective. Certainly, right now in the US, many of us feel out of control and helpless to change things. Congratulations on finishing the Ohio Star quilt and making progress on the baby quilt project.

Great to read you. Firstly condolences, losing a friend has a huge impact and changes how you look at things in life I think.... big virtual hug from me. YOur shadow star is fantastic, I can't get my head around how you did some of those blocks to get the shadow like that but it's amazing... Great to see some of your baby quilt packages being made up...
Hugz
Wow! 29 years for that UFO! I've only been quilting for 24 years. Sorry for the loss of your friend. I know what that feels like. Take it one day at a time.
We’ve missed you, Chantal, so welcome back! I agree that your Ohio Star quilt was worth the 29-year wait! Absolutely practice your self-care as often as life forces you to! I’m trying to be more mindful (and rid my life of) the outside stressors that I can control. Some we cannot control, but with winter coming, I think it will be easier to hibernate when needed!
Oh so nice to see a post of beautiful things you have been working on! Congrats on that 29 year old project! I was going to say it has a vintage vibe and then you explained why! Of course I love the baby quilt too with all those Roses! You are a wise woman to know when to take a break before you break. Walking to observe the beauty in nature is good for body and mind and sewing is always good therapy if you ask me! Sorry for the loss of your friend.
Nice to see your post, Chantal. Glad you've had some time to re-center yourself. (Our woman's club speaker last week talked about precisely that. Very helpful.) I've had that Ohio Star pattern bookmarked for ages. Yours turned out wonderfully well!
THese are all wonderful projects, Chantal. And I'm feeling a little more hopeful now about some of my 10 year old projects getting done. It's never too late, is it? Happy Continued Stitching to you!
