Show and Tell

Although I have done nothing quilty this week, I still have something to show you. This lady worked hard on the baby quilts and she did a great job!

Front - I Spy with black and white

Flannel backing

Done by Yvonne (a lady at the Artisanat group) with her own fabric. The second one is very inspiring. Check it out.

The backing and binding of the first quilt comes from my stash (my way of de-stashing) but the second one is entirely hers. I'm in love with it. She contacted me yesterday because she has done the 2 others I brought her and would like to have some more. "More than 2" she said. Gosh! This girl is a machine, lol. So, I'll get the ones she has finished and I'll try to post them before leaving for my retreat next week.

What else happened this week? Oh, yes, I splurged.

I got a pre-paid credit card from my boss at Christmas and decided to spend some of it on sewing notions.

I got a wool-felt mat for ironing. (I'm not sure why I got that because I have no space for it. I'm blaming impulse purchase because of the great price; $3) Also purchased a 12.5" square ruler, some needle threader shaped like little umbrellas, a bag of little clips in a rainbow of colours and 10 spools of variegated thread.

Aren't the colours pretty?

That's all I have for today. Hope you are well and can find time to sew. Enjoy! ;^)

I love my wool mat and it lives on my ironing board. The thread you got is beautiful……so lovely to look at I might not want to use them!

The baby quilt looks so soft with that flannel backing. Nice finish.

The baby quilts are so pretty but the second one is simply "wow"! Baby quilts are fun to make, great scrap busters. Have a great week!

You made some great purchases with the gift card. And you've reminded me that I also have one of those from Christmas that I haven't used yet.

Great donations. Love those crumb HSTs. Definitely inspiring. You will love the wool mat. After I got one, I wondered how I lived without it. I'm now on my second one as I wore out the first.

Really neat and pretty scrappy blocks. It's fun to buy stitchy things. I don't have one of those wool mats but they seem to be all the rage.

Great baby quilts! I'm intrigued by the second one, it's very different and super scrappy. I might copy the first one to use some of my novelty print squares. So thanks for the inspiration! Good for you splurging on new notions/tools. Those threads are beautiful! Have fun at the retreat!

I love both quilts made my Yvonne, especially the scrappy second one. How fun! Sometimes we do need to treat ourselves with some goodies, don't we?! A wool-felt mat is on my list too, but it has to wait. I'm sure you'll find a place for yours. Yummy thread and the umbrella needle threaders are really cute. Have fun at the retreat.

make you a small ironing board out of a wood folding tv tray (walmart about $12.00). Use your ironing pad on top of it. Then just fold away and store. I have made these as ifts and each recipient has loved it.
