Pin, pin, pin.

Today, I am working on the restoration of an older quilt which belongs to a co-worker.

Lots were done so far ...

some are pinned and ready to be stitched down.

An entire arch is waiting to be pinned next.

Then, when all this is done, I think I can move to the other end of the quilt ... and fix some more. :^D The thing is the more I look the more I find more pieces in need of some fixing and I never get to the other end of the quilt, lol.

Until next time ...

Slow stitching on a slow sunny day ... bliss!

My new toy!

I mentioned in a previous post that one of the reason that keeps me away from my sewing room is my new toy.

Well, I'll tell you what I bought.

Hummingbird's Egg. Internet photo.

It's not something you buy very often. Well, at least not in this household.

Even my unshaven darling loves my new toy.

Care to guess?

Ah! No! I didn't get a loom. Good grief, I have enough craft supplies as it is.

I don't want to embark onto another one.

Don't get me wrong, I still love to weave and I still go to the craft club to enjoy an hour or so on the loom. But I didn't get a loom.

AND I promised Mangofeet I wouldn't show any weaved project on this post so ... carry on!

Have you guessed it yet?

My new toy is a new-to-me thing as I can't afford a brand new one. So, did you found what it is?

If you say ...

Oh! I am such a drama Queen! hehehe!

Did you say .....

Keep strolling down ...

This must be my longest post yet, lol.

Oh I'm getting there.

Are you?

 Honk! Honk!

Did you say a car? You are right!! But I have no prize for you, sorry!

Not any kind of car.

It's an electric car. No emission, no noise!  Everything, well most everything is touch screen kind of thing. Only two knobs. It's so cool.

I want to make some seat "mats" or whatever those are called because the seats are such a light grey. While cleaning my sewing room I found two blocks from a few years back.

I made these extra blocks when I did a quilt for MIL and FIL. (Picture of that quilt is higher up in this post.) These blocks were to be pillow shams. Obviously, I never made the shams so how about using these for the seat mats?

I can framed it with the dark blue fabric and it would be big enough. Hmmm! I like that idea.

I have another new toy. It's a brand new one too. No, it's not a kitten (I wish I'd be so lucky!) I can't show you this new toy because I am using it to take the pictures. I have a cellular phone. Yes, me!! A cell!! I didn't want one but my dearest bearded man got me one. Now he's texting me smileys and kissy faces every day. Awhhh! I can't complain about that.

Until next time ...

Trying to finish something

On this glorious afternoon, I am trying to finish something. I haven't used my weaved tea towel yet because they are "tied" or "embroidered" as some people say.

It's not exactly embroidery as it consist of a series of knots but this is what I am working on.

The ideal way of starting or finishing off a project it's while it is still attached to the loom. I didn't do it then and I was told that "you can't do the embroidery finish after the project is cut off the loom". To me, that  sounded like a dare ... and I am up to it.

So, this afternoon, I taped the towel to the glass of the patio table and

started the tying session.

Ok, it is a little bit easier on the loom, but this is working better than I thought it would. Kind of hard to see here do the color of the thread. I'll snap more pictures when I get to work with a  better color than chocolate.

Hello! Remember me?

Boy! It has been awhile since I was here. I think I fell off the face of Blogland but I am back. It's the last Blue Saturday of the year and I haven't done any. So, this morning I tried to get my sewing mojo going by taking care of the 365 Challenge quilt.

Remember this?

That was when I couldn't finish the corner because I was missing one block. Last week I hunted down the missing block. Apparently, it wasn't missing. It has never been made as only 71 blocks were and not 72. But on the 3rd of July, there's the pattern for the Temple Court block.

So I made one this morning and ... oops, it's sideways. Anywho! I was able to finish the corner.

Ta-dah!

So there's my blue story for July. I still have a lot of yellow blocks for June and now July too needs more blocks made. Cheese!! Anyone out there has a day or two too many that I could buy off? Anyone?  Really! No one? Darn!

Until next time .... yes, yes, eventually I will show you why I am not spending a lot of time in my sewing room, beside the garden. It does involve this

and a new toy!

Slow Lunch Breaks

I haven't been sewing much this past week, but I have been slow stitching during my lunch breaks at work. :^D

Since I can't bring the old quilt at work to work on, I brought something much more portable. My MIL table runner. Yep, finally working on this one. I kind of resurrected this one and started working on the appliques.

Sorry if the pictures aren't the best, they were taken with my phone.  Click to enlarge.

I started in the middle of the vine and I'm slowly working my way to the edge. I will pull some fabric out to be used for prepping of the leaves ... hopefully this afternoon.

Don't know if this count as slow stitching ....
but I have been working on some more towels. It uses a very big "needle" to shuttle the thread from one side to the other, hehehe! Don't mind the hot pink piece of rag in there. It is where the piece will be cut, to separate my work from the previous lady's work. The red row you see is my edging. It's the first time I do it this way. It's a little bit like embroidery. It finishes the towel so nicely. My stitches are not very even yet. You can see her beautiful blue edging at the bottom of the picture. I'll show you more of mine next time.

Joining Kathy for Slow Sunday Stitching where there's lots of wonderful project made by hand to be seen.

Until next time ...
