Oh No! What Have I Started Now?!!

I haven't been very good at quilting my Smile quilt like I was supposed to do. I did ponder about how to quilt it and this morning, I decided to start the quilting otherwise I will never choose a pattern.

My quilting is not the best. I'm having trouble keeping my speed. On my Brother machine, there's a speed regulator button. There's no such thing on my Janome.

I might redo this block ... and maybe not. I ran out of thread in the bobbin an inch or so before the end. :^(

Do you see what I have started though? I used pink thread on the pink block. Do I have the right colours to do the same to all the other blocks?

Here are the other blocks before the borders were added.

No! Oh! This is going to be a challenge. Thank goodness for online shopping. :^)

During coffee breaks and lunch break, I did a little hand sewing. Yes, I did change the layout a little. I changed the dark leaf for two not-so-dark leaves. I love it now.
Sorry for the poor quality picture. The background fabric is actually white.  Overcast skies don't make great pictures no matter how bad the photographer is, lol.
Five leaves are done. I intend to join Kathy tomorrow for Slow Sunday Stitching and get one or two more done.

Stay good, stay home, stay healthy.
;^)

If the first block still bothers you when you finish the last, then you can redo it. I tell myself every time I get off to a rough start, and I have yet to go back and undo anything. I guess it just feels too good to be done. Good luck on matching threads! Sounds like a fun quest.

Matching your thread to each block color would be very impressive! I love those orange peel leaves floating around on your pretty blue background, too.

Or... You could just quilt them ALL in PINK!!! :o))
Regarding ripping and requilting, I was going to say much the same as Angela.

However you quilt it, this is a very nice quilt! And your leaf applique is lovely. I always have trouble with the points on leaves.

Joyful said what I was thinking - you could just quilt them all in pink! (I'm always ready to consider the lazy option... *grin*)

I have to admit I am a fan of changing thread colours to suit blocks... I know it takes extra time but depending on the pattern it can be worth it to keep the eye on the quilt and not the quilting.... or both!! It's a lovely quilt and I do like your leaves this way now.... I saw nothing wroing first time but now you have changed it I can see it is better....

I like what you've already done with your pinwheel quilting. If you're using Aurifil thread I can recommend a couple places to order online, which is what we need to do around here as there are no local quilt shops that carry any.

You can't go wrong with pink, if you decide not to change colors. Such a happy quilt!

I just finished appliqueing leaves, the first ones weren't that good but I got better as I went along...

It is such a pretty quilt. Whatever thread you use will look good!

Quilting looks good to me. Your applique leaves look very nice in that layout. Gray skies do make for difficult photo taking, but the beautiful colors in both projects do come shining through ... :) Pat

It is a happy and pretty quilt, and whatever you decide about how quilting it , will be beautiful. Enjoy stitching your leaves block.

Another pinwheel quilt? Looking good. I still haven't sewn together the pinwheels I made for RSC after your earlier pinwheel quilt. I imagine you'll be happier changing thread colors to match since the pink may look jarring against some of the other colors.

I always remind myself there are no hard rules in quilting! Use what you have and don't worry if it isn't how you first planned it. It is a bright and happy little quilt. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!

Quel courage de quilter à la machine !! Je déteste cela et bêtement.... je m'ennuie !
Mais j'ai deux quilts en attente d'être quilté avec des lignes droites et je suis capable de le faire....
Tes feuilles sont très belles !!

I think your quilting looks great. Fun colors and the black makes it sparkle.
I used to cross stitch at lunch back in my office days. Love those leaves.

I love the color of the colorful foliage you specify ... it looks bright.
Good handwork.

I like your quilting pattern for your pinwheels. I think leave it. . . .when you are finished, if it still bothers you. . .you can unpick the stitches then. I imagine it won't bother you!

Those M&Ms are having such fun in your quilt I don't think they'll mind the quilting! The piece you showed in the photo looks fine to me. I wouldn't unpick for just one inch, but use other thread, as close in colour as possible, or failing that, an outrageous contrast.
I love the leaves! What are you planning for them?

I think your quilting looks fine too. Good luck with all those colours, the quilt will be a very happy quilt! The leaves look wonderful.
