Improved Yellow

It's Yellow again!

You might not remember it but I did this yellow crumb block last year and I didn't like the umbrella fabric.
In my book, it isn't yellow enough.

So I fixed it.
This is so much better. Oh, look at the gold piece on the top right. It really looks too brownish to me. No, no, NO! You are not going to change every little piece of fabric. Let it be, Chantal! Put the seam ripper down and walk away!

I also did the last of the yellow tulip. I figure if I have three tulips of each colour, it will give me 21 blocks which is one too many for what I need. So one colour will only have two and it's not yellow. The blocks are 12.5" unfinished.

Group photo. Say Cheese!

So what happened to the umbrella fabric?

It did not return into the scrap basket. I turned into an HST block.

It is raining cats and dogs in that quilt. 🤣

Hope you are all well and safe. Have a great sewing day!

LOL!! I'm laughing because I might be planning to do the same thing with one of my Crumb blocks. I've got the seam ripper on speed dial and it's waiting to jump into service! Silly really, since it's just a scrap block where the color variation only adds interest.

Good use of the errant umbrella square. Raining cats and dogs, since I guess it never snows cats and dogs, does it?

I would have left the umbrellas where they were. I like them. But they look ok in the HST. Except for being cut off. Can't wait to see the tulips sewn together!

J'adore ce nouveau bloc, les parapluies étaient très beaux, mais le Vichy et les petits pois sont encore mieux ! Et puis tu as trouvé une belle façon de mettre en valeur les parapluies ;)

Happy yellow tulips! I'm looking forward to a few of those in my garden one of these days. Sometimes you just have to put that seam ripper in time out! I like your crumb block with the gray borders.

As my daughter would tell me, "put the block down, Mom, just walk away!!" Funny how colors look so different depending on what they touch...pretty tulip blocks, too..hugs, Julierose

Way to use up those scraps! The tulips are so lovely and unique. They’re making me crave some real ones!

I would have told you to leave the umbrella fabric in the first block, but the "new" block does look better as a yellow block. I will tell you to leave the brown - brown is just dark yellow. The tulips look wonderful together.

I think you made a good choice removing the umbrella fabric, but I'd keep that lovely golden brown. If you add some more of that color in your yellow blocks, maybe some lighter shades, I think it'll look great! Love those tulip blocks too. I love all your new projects, and you are certainly putting those scraps to good use!

I meant dark gold, not brown....

I love yellow so I am loving all your blocks. Thanks for linking up. I liked the umbrella fabric, but the new block is much more yellow. The darker square in the corner provides a nice contrast, I think. The little yellow churn dash blocks are sew cute ... :) Pat
