It's a Friendly Thing

What is Friendship? Friendship is like peeing in your pants. Everyone can see it but only you can feel the warmth of it.

(BwaaaHahaHa! 🤣 Sorry, but sometimes I crack myself.)

Friends' Favourite was started in January 2023. I "stole" the pattern from Fiona's blog who got it from a friend, who was inspired by another friend's quilt, hence the name Friends' Favourite.

I worked at it here and there. I wanted to use prints that I like, that talk to me because it will be my quilt. We all know that working on quilts in this fashion takes forever to get them finish.  It was brought to the retreat to get it moving forward.

The retreat didn't go so well. I got sick. So sick that I called DH to pick me up. What was supposed to be a four day retreat ended after 30 hours. I'm happy to say that none of the ladies got sick . . . yet.
Anywho!

While I complained about feeling like a road kill, I managed to sew! And cut!

There were 133 centres missing to make the 240 blocks needed. I cut those. I framed (25 centres at a time) most of them before it occurred to me that I should lay them out to see if there's a colour I need more of.

It didn't take long to see that GREEN was in short supply. It's was an easy fix.

Other colours were added too because they talk to me.

Needless to say that there are waaayyy too many centres now. I'm sure I can use them in one of the baby quilts.

This weekend, I shall continue to frame the centres and hopefully get this one together before the end of the year.

The baby quilt drive is moving along very well. My previous post shows a few finishes if you care to see. I'll try to get better pictures once the snow stops and we get some GOOD lighting for photos.

Dr. Seam Ripper was called for an emergency surgery this week. He did an excellent job as always.

Happy ending.

Hope you are well and sewing to your heart's content. I should be back at work on Monday if this flu skedaddles out of here. So far none of the boys (husband included) are sick.

Take care! ;^)

so annoying to get sick and miss most of your retreat. My daughter has been sick all week, too, and sh'e supposed to leave for Finland this weekend. Last year she went to Svalbard, Norway for a quilt retreat and came down with Covid, missing much of her retreat time, Pluss feeling to crappy to sightsee. Hopefully, you are on the mend and can get back to finishing your "friends" quilt.

Somehow I've missed several of your posts, Chantal! I'm sorry you got sick and had to cut your time short at your retreat. Hope you're feeling better now. Those Friends Favorite blocks are going to make a beautiful quilt! Love seeing all the sweet baby quilts, too. Sewing notions are the perfect use of a gift card, too!

Love your Friends Favorite blocks/quilt, it's going to be fabulous! Sorry you got so sick at the retreat. Even if you had to go home, at least you managed to sew. Can any quilter live without Dr Seam Ripper?? I know I can't! lol Happy sewing weekend!

Oh what a shame you got to miss the retreat, I do hope you recover soon. The Friendship quilt is progressing nicely though and looking great. Love your sense of humour. xx

Bummer that you got sick and had to cut short your retreat time. But your progress was pretty good in spite of that. And you gave me a big laugh this morning with the joke at the beginning of your post.

So sorry about your retreat. That's the worst! Feel better. I totally adore this quilt. The alternating color & LV sashing is super fun.

I am so sorry that you came down with an awful flu while you were on retreat! I hope you are feeling better. I do like your friends' blocks and I chuckled over your name. I agree, when we make something for ourselves. . .it takes a long time. . .we keep doing projects for others!

What a shame you had to leave the retreat, hope you are feeling heaps better now. Great to see Friends Favourites out, I wouldn't mind doing it again sometime, it used up lots of little pieces.

So sorry you got sick at retreat! Great progress on you "Friend's Favorite". There is always room for centers. Hope you are better soon. And thanks for visiting me at my blog post. I'm still way behind, but I'm resigned now to making it so big so may have to do less blocks before my SAHRR is done.
