Flimsy! Flimsy!

Wanted to post this last  night, (Friday) but it was too dark to take any good pictures and I was too tired to write a post. 😴

So here I was, early this morning, outside in this beautiful, bitterly cold, windy day to take a decent picture or two. (-29C or -20F with wind factor)

I did a Log cabin QAL with Cécile & Béa from France. I finished assembling the blocks and that's my first flimsy.

It is made with pieces of fabric given to me by friends, bloggers or otherwise. I thought of naming it "I ♥ my quilting friends" but not all of them are quilters. So I adjusted the name to include all of them: I ♥ my sewing friends.  :^D  This project has to be finished by April first. Need to find a backing and start quilting it A.S.A.P.

The second flimsy is my March OMG.

The pattern is from Sarah (Confession of a Fabric Addict). It was her first quilt in the series "Stunning Stars Quilt Along" and it is so easy to make. Thank you Sarah for the inspiration. I made it into an I-Spy quilt for my newest found love who is 18 months old. I also have to find a backing for this one, hopefully something fun in flannel. Not sure if I have something that is childish enough for him and big enough for the flimsy.

That is what I'll be hunting for today. Oh and I need,

no,

seriously,

i

 NEED

to clean up

the sewing room!

Even I can NOT work in this mess any longer.
As you can see on my cutting board, I just couldn't resist sewing a little bit of red before the cleaning process begins.

Just a bit of red turned into some 9 Patches. Add the two flimsies that are rainbow colored at the beginning of this post and I'd say that is a very nice way to start a weekend, wouldn't you?  Oh!  I still have to photograph some Aqua blocks that got done this week too. I just thought about them now. Oh well, next post.

Okay got to go and get more coffee. Then, I'll clean a little bit, check out some link parties and ... repeat.

The log cabin heart looks terrific.

Good god, my sewing room looks the same. I desperately need to finish my current project so I can focus on cleaning it up. :-)

I love how your log cabin project turned out; it's really nice and the stars too! As for your sewing room: we're kindred spirits. I was searching for my 24" ruler earlier and it was on my cutting mat all the time! Buried, of course, under a mound of red scraps!

That could be a picture of my sewing area. Love the log cabin blocks in the heart setting. Good way to start on the red.

Congrats on a couple of fantastic and colorful flimsies!

What wonderful colorful quilt tops to celebrate the approach of spring. And I can still see table top, so your sewing area does not qualify for mess designation. Add more fabric and try again later.

LOVE your log cabin heart! The log cabin blocks are so perfect for that shape. It's beautiful, Chantal, and the star quilt, too! I put the star quilt on my list, too, after seeing it on Sarah's blog.

That's usually how my sewing room is. However, I cleaned it a month ago and it has stayed picked up and clean except for the current project. So much happier this way. Wonder how long it will last, LOL Love your heart flimsy.

Oh, sweetie, when it comes to sewing table messes, you're just an amateur! You should see mine - I've got a huge cutting mat, but can only use about one square foot of it due to the mountains of strips piled on it!
Your flimsies are gorgeous! Enjoy the quilting!

The log cabin heart is gorgeous. Sewing/quilting friends are the best. I wish you all the best in meeting your goals. And do not worry too much about the mess - Creativity is messy. Also wanted to thank you for visiting and leaving a comment on my blog -Sew Preeti Quilts.

I love your flimsies. I really like the idea of making a quilt just with fabric from friends. What a nice way to keep them all close by! I like your red sewing. My very first attempt at patchwork was making red and white 9-patches!

I love the "Heart" top! The other one is darling also. I cleaned up my sewing room because today a friend came over for some pointers on free motion quilting. It looks so much better, but probably won't stay this way long!

I always find myself creating much more of a mess than the creation itself!
