I Need Yellow

I'm happy with Angela's colour choice for this month as I need some yellow (energy) in my life at the moment. We are back in the office since Tuesday. It is fun to see my colleagues again, especially as two of them are pregnant! We are an all-girl office so there's a lot of talking and laughing, sharing experiences, recipes, kids' funny sayings, menopause, etc. But all this noise plus the radio, the printer, people coming and going, is very distracting and takes a toll on my energy. I'm not used to that anymore. I'm sure I won't be so tired in another week or two. So, YAY for yellow!
(Some might say this is really petty talk compared to what is going on in Ukraine. Yes, I agree. I try to keep my life as ordinary as possible, in a nutshell, because the world is overwhelming me beyond what my pills can handle. Thanks for not reprimanding me for it.)

I didn't expect to have such a tough time pairing yellow fabrics together this week. I'm staying away from light yellows that won't show up much once they are surrounded by the other blocks. So, I pulled out some "darker" yellows. They are mostly medium though.

And some sewing ensued.

That was fun!

My wanderings all over the Internet, during an evening I was brain-dead, lead me to some beautiful Dear Jane quilts. I would love to have my own DJ so I spent some time looking at different DJ sites. Then something popped up on my design wall.

8 inches block

It's DJ's row K block #1 aka Crooked Creek. What have I done?! 🙄 I have enough new projects started for this year. I don't want more! I had a little talk with myself.  😠 I need to stop collecting blocks for RSC2022! So, I said to myself that it was for RSC2023. 😝 (How long will I resist making more?) (Until the colour of next month is called!)

A second yellow Jericho Wall is done and more to come this week, but first, since it's a beautiful Saturday morning here, I'm heading out. My shovel and I need to discuss where to pile the snow in order to excavate the deck so I can enjoy it once again. 😊

Have a great sewing week everyone.

;^)

It always amazed me at how we have to adapt to a changed environment and how exhausting it is.... won't be long and you will be back in the swing of things. lovely yellow sewing... I have plucked my yellow scrap bin down but not delved in yet...

Yellow is one of my favorite colors and I sure do love your Jericho Wall blocks. My deck is cleared now but all the snow i shoveled off last month is now a frozen pile. Hopefully that is the last of the snow for this year.

That sounds like a fun place to work. I am with you tho - When I am at work with my *girls* we have a blast - but sometimes... I need to refresh my energy - hope that yellow does that for you!!

Cute blocks!!!

Ooh, now THAT's an interesting idea -- are you planning to make Dear Jane as an RSC project?! All of your blocks are looking great and I hear you about the transition to working and just being in public spaces with other people again. Now that our local mask mandate has finally lifted, it feels really weird not to wear one or to see others not wearing masks. Almost as weird as it would be if the "No Shirt, No Service" mandate were lifted and everyone was walking around with their boobs out in public! Hah!

Very pretty yellow blocks! And I love the Anne's Quilt blocks too. Great idea to add a new project to next year's RSC! Being out in the world again is weird, even for those of us who are retired. Good luck with the adjustment, I'm sure you'll do well.

You've done well getting started on your yellows. I haven't even managed to pull mine out yet. Going back to the office must be somewhat disconcerting after so many months working from home. OTOH catching up with friends is a real pleasure. As far as adding another block for RSC, you know resistance is futile.

What’s one more project block in the grand scheme of things? It’s precisely because of the horrific nature of the outside world that we should lean into our sewing and quilting as much as we desire. Great blocks this week!!

I always struggle with yellow. It is sometimes hard to get good contrast unless you use really bright shades. Love your blocks. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!

I'm having the same problem, wanting to add another type block to the ones I'm already working on for RSC2022. Especially when I see what others are making! I have a hard time with yellows. There's not enough variety! Your blocks look great.

I'm happy to hear you are back to the office. I agree it is tiring to be with people, but I also have seen the benefits.
The world is something we can not reconcile. I agree it is best to take of ourselves when need to.
We can affect and change what is nearest to us.
Love your yellow blocks ! Yay for sunny yellow.
