Sunday ... Aaaaahhhh!

A little quiet time is what I am enjoying this Sunday morning. What a week! And to finish it off beautifully, I had two training sessions on Friday on two different computer programs. You know I will forget it during the weekend and will probably remember only half of it comes Monday. Ha! ha! ha! Anyway! That's tomorrow's funny headache.
Right now, all my men are still sleeping so I have the dining room all to myself, with a coffee and some hand sewing. My favorite sewing place, the deck, is all wet from the dew at this time of the year, so I'll settle for the dining table, next to the patio doors. I am working on my Antique Inspiration.

It is doesn't take very long to do one block. The part that is most frustrating is the hoop. Because the quilt is already bind, the hoop doesn't "grip" properly and it keeps slipping off. I try to quilt without it sometimes, especially for the square in the corner of the quilt but, after awhile, I put the hoop back on.

I have three more blocks to do. Then I will remove the machine quilting around the blocks and redo it by hand. It will look better I think.

Oops! This one is not completely finished. :)

Hope that you too find some time to stitch a bit. I am linking up with Kathy for a Slow Sunday Stitching

Until next time ... ssssSMiLE ... it is stressless.

EDITING: to link up with Angie from A Quilting Reader's Garden for some eye candy. Hope you will come and pay us a visit.

Oh I agree hand stitches always look better! When I finished my daughter's quilt, I kept thinking sure would have looked better with some big stitching. It won't matter to her though she will be thrilled to put it in her new office.

Just don't spill that coffee on the quilt! :) :)

It doesn't matter what size only that it is stitched with love

IMHO machine quilting has its time and place, but hand stitching is always best. ;-)

Looks like a wonderful hand stitching project for today! I have tried quilting without a hoop, but just didn't get the same kind of stitches. Maybe you need a different kind of hoop to grip the quilt more?

I am working on a border with a hoop and I found that I could go without the hoop. I don't like to do that but on the corners especially I had to. You just have to watch your tension more and the stitches like everything else ...come with practice!!!

I love your hand stitching. I, too, have torn out machine quilting and replaced it with hand stitches. I've been much happier in the end. Be sure to show the whole quilt when you are finished.

Your stitches are so perfect!! I can't use the hoop, so I think it is fun that you can. Enjoy your quiet stitching time!

Hand stitching a finish is my favorite part of making a quilt... I do machine a quilt from time to time... or gifts.. but generally all my finishes are done by hand because I enjoy it too :) I quilt without a hoop at all Chantal and find edges still hard esp if I have already bound it.. please feel free to PM or email me if you would like pointers. Hope you otherwise get a nice slowstitching day :) Kathi

I had problems learning to hand quilt with a hoop but finally settled on one of those square PVC hoops except for when I get close to the side of a quilt. I'm a newbie to hand quilting so still have a lot to learn.

I laughed at your comment on your computer training session and remembering come Monday. I have been computer programming at a medical lab for over 25 years and when I went to school we keypunched our programs on to cards. Oh, the stuff I've had to learn and remember!!!!
